In a market value-weighted index, the sum of the market value of all stocks is the total market value of the index, that is, the price of each stock in the index is multiplied by the total equity issued by the stock to get the sum, and this sum is divided by the divisor to get the final index value.
The divisor can be any designated number. For example, when the index is issued, the total market value of the stock price reaches 15B, and the initial value of the index is set to 100, then the divisor will be 150M.
